PPC, Testing and Costs
Pay-Per-Click (PPC) campaigns, like AdWords, are concerned with more than driving traffic to your website. They are about producing conversion rates and generating a healthy return on investment. Various steps and stages are involved to develop a successful AdWords (or PPC) campaign, and unfortunately the best way to perform these steps /stages is actively conducting PPC marketing.
I say this is unfortunate because you may not have a great deal of revenue to spend on experimenting. Believe me conducting a campaign such as AdWords – especially if it is new – is about experimenting. Having an experienced person such as an AdWords expert / consultant can drastically reduce the costs involved, but experimentation through tracking and testing is inherently involved.
There are two items that can assist in controlling costs:
One is to have a knowledgeable person running the campaign (as mentioned).
A second is to start on a small scale before investing heavily.
Starting out with a small budget will allow for the experimentation to take place. This will give you the opportunity to see what keywords are performing well and what ads are working. In addition, it will grant you time to adjust your web site if needed – install the necessary codes to measure conversions, perfect your landing page and other items.
All of this can be preformed on a small scale giving you time to generate and evaluated the data. Once the results have been measured you can do two items: adjust your settings and start t0 increase your budget. I say start to increase your budget because the increase should be done in stages just like the adjustments you are making. Continue to track and test your campaign making adjustments as necessary.
Doing this method will assist in reducing costs, creating a successful AdWords campaign and generate a healthy return on investment.
